Default HD radio ?

with all the hype about HD radio it has me wondering if it really is better than FM

anybody using HD radio, is it really better than FM?

from what i understand its a cross between FM and XM, the quality of XM with out the cost of XM subscription, yet it still has commercials

the only way ill get it is if i get a cdplayer that has a built in hd tuner but those are big bucks but then again its a one-time purchase thing

All HD radio is, is your FM radio but higher quality. And not all of the channels are broadcast in HD. I MIGHT be wrong on these numbers, I recall it being close but here goes...

FM is something like 32kbps
HD radio is 96kbps
XM/Sirius is 128kbps

For the most part its hard to notice a real difference unless you have good speakers IMO. I personally wouldnt go out of my way to get a HU that could accept HD radio. I think most of them do, but if it didnt I wouldnt worry about.

HD radio is LAME!!! Not only do you get to hear your normal stations in HD........ You get to hear ALL the commercials and bullshit in supposed "HD" too!!

Stick to satellite, youll be happier in the long run.
