Default GM Remote Start

Does anyone know if the GM Remote start that is available on the 2007 Silverados will work on a 2006 Silverado..

no it wont, the 06 is a totally different truck. you will have to get an aftermarket one

aftermarket > factory IMO. Factory is about $200 roughly, NOT installed. You can get a good aftermarket one with a much better range (I tested factory, it was like 50 feet or so it got iffy) installed for around that same price.

Yea I just prefer the all in one factory keyfob I did not like the bulky aftermarket ones.

DEI's remotes aren't all that bulky. They do have a little antenna though, for the 2-way paging alarm. To me, a 2-way alarm is well worth the added space it takes up in my pocket. An aftermarket RS isn't too hard to install either. The hardest part is finding the wires you need, but there are plenty of wiring diagrams out there for these trucks. Factory alarms are a joke.

you can NOT get an aftermarket remote start alarm + install for $200. thats a ******* joke. we do compustar, for usually 650 installed. thats a two way, pager, remote start, keyless entry, all the bells and whistles. 3500 ft of range. you get what you pay for with security systems.

who said anything about an alarm too? we're strictly talking remote start.

ok lets analyze....

REMOTE START.. TO START A VEHICLE REMOTELY....... ok i guess the point would be to start the vehicle without being in it.... then again i may just be dumb........ but it makes sense to me
