Default DVD for 2007 Tahoe

I want to put a DVD in the wife's Tahoe to keep the kids in the backseat occupied. I'm not really concerned with pulling out the stock radio or upgrading the factory stereo system.

I priced the GM kit and it was $1200.

While this may be a very vauge question, what is the recommendation for an in car DVD player and monitor(s). What I am looking for is a system that installs easily, and looks good once its installed.

color matched headrest screens with a built in dvd player is probably the way I would go. Many benefits with this setup such as:

1) 1 screen per child allowing one to watch a movie and the other play a video game or both watch the same thing.
2) The dvd player is built into one of the screens so there is no external unit mounted under a seat, this makes for less wires when installing.
3) Can find them color matched in leather or cloth witchever you have.
4) Complete sets with both headrests can be had for around $1000 so they are not too expensive.

SoundStream actually makes a pretty nice 10" flip down with a built in DVD player...thomas is right about the individual screens but that can get costly...i'd rather spend the 1000 & only have 1 screen but that's just my opinion...either way no matter what you go with if you have GM you can find the color to match it...everyone has a color to match GM interiors you're in the ballpark now all ya gotta do is find your way to the restrooms...almost there buddy lol

You could do a flip down as well but IMHO the head rest screenslook cleaner, more factory. Also, If you have a sunroof chances are you would not be able to do a flip down anyway. Plus there is no cutting of the headliner involved with the head rest monitors so they are 10 times easier to install......trust me I know lol. Good luck with your search.

you don't have to cut the headliner either? installing a headrest monitor is more cut intensive than a flip down...flip down all you cut is a small hole to run wires

I was referring to the hole cut in the head liner to run the wires. My point is, If he every wanted to uninstall the screen to sell the vehicle there would be a hole in the head liner where as with the headrest monitors you simply put the factory ones back in and you couldnt tell any difference.

IMO it is a no brainer as far as looks, ease of installation, price, and the ability to uninstall with no trace left of the screens ever being there.
