I also swapped in the lower dash panel and added a usb port from an nnbs truck to my pioneer head unit for my phone and also eliminated the dash cupholders and wired in the power port in the center console/seat from an nnbs with the three cupholders...

On my 99 Sierra I got one of the first of the kits that Metra made to convert it to double din that they started making for converting the 99-02 models. You do still have to cut the back of the bucket but it really only took a few minutes with a oscillating saw. That being said, the kit works but at least on the early ones (maybe they improved them but I doubt it since they would have to make a completely new mold) its a bit of an ill fitting affair. The replacement dash face bezel is a matte black finish and overall it looks okay. I think they did not account for shrinkage when they made the mold though. The stereo opening fits too tight on the left side of the stereo and overall the bezel is just a bit too small. This makes it not fit flush at the far left and right edges.

The right edge bothers me the most because that is very visible to passengers. I've considered trying to heat it up with a heat gun and see if I can flex those two outer edges out some but I'm worried I'll just end up making it all wavy and will look even worse. I'd rather not swap to a newer model bezel either because of the fitment issues around the ash tray, power outlets, and ac control panel. I may eventually get another 99-02 bezel though and try my hand at hacking it up. That way it would be a perfect fit and would also have the factory texture and finish instead of the all smooth matte black. I do still have my original but I want to keep that original for now just in case I want to put it back to its totally stock look.
