I did a search but couldnt find anything so. I just bought a 99 silverado. When i start the truck and drive off the doors lock. When i shut it off the doors stay locked. Is there a way to change this so the doors unlock when I put it in park or shut the truck off. My 02 Blazer would unlock when I put it in park, hoping i could do the same with this.

 

I have the same problem on my 99, and I hate it. Apparently it wasn't programmable in 99, 00, and some of 01. There was a way to connect a module to make it work when you put it in park if you decide to do that much work to make it the way you like.

is there an aftermarket alarm or keyless entry on the truck? could be a bad relay or fuse somewhere....i think there's a door lock switch or a door lock relay but not 100% on that

 

There's no aftermarket stuff in the truck. I'll have to look into the relay. I remember reading on LS1Tech years ago about how to program different settings 4 the door locks, lights, and horn when locking or unlocking on my Trans Am. It would be nice to do that on this truck. But if not I'll get use to it

 

I know its a different truck but my old 2003 GMC Sonoma I used to have had power locks in it. To program them the owners manual said to turn the key to the on position (3 or 4 times) to set the computer into programing mode and had to press the lock and unlock buttons in a seqence while holding the bright lights to get it to work. This is from memory as I programed it about 8 years ago. Check if yours was setup the same way.

 

I didn't get the owners manual when i bought the truck. I'm gonna look on ebay for that.
