Any one know how to disable the auto dimmer rear view mirror. it is on my 04" 1500 and it doesn't have onstar so there isn't a button to just turn it off like the manual says.
With the factory tint and a cap on the bed having more tinted glass it is always in night mode I can see out the back at all.

I figured it out once, but it shouldn't be in night mode unless the sensor on the dash says so, that's how mine is at least.... let me try to figure it out at lunch and I'll get back to ya

If I unplug it I will lose compass and temp too right! I don'e care if I need to cut the the sensor wire inside the mirror or what ever and I will have to do the same in the Escalade too I think.

My mirror in my 03 had a sensor up above the compass that turned the mimmer on when light was trans mitted on it. I hated it cause it was hard to use it with tinted windows. I finaly sold the truck, but not because of that..

ok, I finally figured it out (been a while)....
if you have the compass/temp/auto dim mirror:
press and hold the temp button, watch the green indicator tight on the mirror housing (ignore what the screen does), when the green indicator goes off release the temp button, this takes about 20 seconds or so. now the auto dim will be turned off for all mirrors (regular rearview and if equipped driverside outside rearview)
