Default Custom Center Console and sub enclosure build

I have been working on building a custom center console for the Sierra for the past few weeks. My truck came with the bench/jump seat, and I like the look of a console better so I figured why not make one.

This is my first console build, so I am open to some constructive criticism and if you have any ideas for it before getting it upholstered. I am gonna have it done professionally to match the factory leather and styling.

The console fits 2 10" subs downfiring, with about .5 cubic foot airspace per speaker. Probably could have squeezed a little more out of it if planned a little better but I kept changing my mind on what I was gonna do (ported, sealed, 1 sub, 2 subs, etc). It also has room to store an amp or two. I still need to cut in the storage tray on the lowest panel (towards the front of the console). No other storage is built in, though maybe a V2 is in the future since I have had some fun learning on this build.

The console mounts to the factory console brackets, and should be pretty solid when complete. Will hopefully get it to thee upholsterer in the next couple weeks. I have no idea how much something like that is gonna cost.

Let me know what y'all think.

It looks good, I couldn't have built something better. It is made of wood or fiberglass? (the curve looks like fiberglass)

Looks good. I'd have a hard time not having the storage space though.

Thanks Suburbazine. It is all wood (mdf), including the curve.

Yeah, only time will tell how much I miss the storage. So far I have been ok without it. Fortunately I do still have the 2 small glove boxes on the passenger side, so hopefully that will do. I also still need to cut in the storage tray on the lower panel of the console, so that will give me a place to toss my cell phone and other small items.

it would be a bit of work to correct, but instead of having the extra slant downwards after the cup holders, why not keep it straight, and curve it around the bottom of the dash, then in the flat plane section, cut it out and put a stock storage piece in, or custom cut a storage compartment there? then, you will also have room for the custom side compartments as well! I'm assuming the side compartments will slide in and out, or are you doing cubby holes to match the rest of the dash?

looks really good so far though, can't wait to see it wrapped

yeah i actually started off trying to do something like that, but unfortunately it blocked the drop down ash tray on the lower dash. not that i use the ash tray for anything but spare change, but i didnt want to block it off...

Lets see, constructive criticism... Take it out and give it to me!!!

LOL

Really nice work. It is pretty clear you know your stuff and like to take your time to do the job right. Get it wrapped up and get the cubby hole installed and call it a day.

Upholstery is all done. Came out pretty good. Ended up cutting in a small storage compartment with a sliding cover. Still have just one 10" type R and it sounds GREAT. The 2nd one will be here in a few days. Here's a couple pics.
