Question CD Stuck in OEM Radio

I have an 04 Chevy Silverado with the factory CD player that has a CD (and not a particularly good one at that) stuck in the player. When you try to eject it only makes a clicking noise for about 5 seconds then displays "CHECK CD."

Anybody have any ideas on how to remove it? Am I going to need a new radio? If so, would it be wiser to just leave the radio as is and get a CD changer?

I can regear a 10bolt blindfolded but I know jack crap about electronics. What should I do?

the addition of a cd changer sounds like the best route, unless you plan on running an aftermarket cd player.

also if you move the little flaps of rubber or felt or whatever it is can you see the edge of the cd?? if so you may be able to get a very skinny pair or needle noses on the very edge of the cd (as to not scratch it where i would effect playback) if it trully is THAT good of a cdthen you could always pop a crappy or FUBAR cd that wont play in there and see if it would be a reoccuring problem or not, then go down wichever road you choose.

Thanks for the replies.

Anybody know how much a new Stereo from GM costs? I think I will try to pick at it again this weekend and pry it out. I guess I can't mess anything up worse than it already is. If that doesn't work, I'll start checking to see if Best Buy or Circuit City can wire up a cd changer for me.

We ended up popping it out with a butter knife. The CD player is shot, so now it's time for a changer. Thanks again guys.

For what you can buy a cd changer for, it would probably be better off to get on ebay and buy a pioneer radio or whatever, just don't get a jensen, I made that mistake a few years ago.

Listen dude....I see this proble about 3 times a week! You have to remove your Radio unit and send it to a AC Delco repair center. I use Model Electronics out of Ramsey New Jersey.
