Default building a new sub box

I wanted to ask what the pros and cons are of having the sub facing up or facing down. I have always faced them up but most people face them down.

Well in a traditional sealed type of box I understand that more bass comes out of the back of the speaker, that why in alot of cars the woofer is facing out the rear. When I had a more simple box in the rear of my cab w/ the back seat out i i found that speakers facing forward sounded the best w/ viberations and all, firing up the roof shook way too hard...

it all depends on your setup every lil thing will change the way it sounds like leather or cloth seats will make a difference, most of the boxes i build, i have the subs facing up b/c this is what the ppl want. i guess they want to show them off. i like the boxes w/the subs facing down b/c the subs cant get hurt. you dont have to wory about them rubbing the seat, or something on them while they are playing and it rubs a hole it the speaker. its just like a maintenance free system, you dont have to check on them.
