Default alternator??'S

i have heard on this site that there is a stock option on new silverados for a like 160 amp alt, (with a snowplow option) i went to the dealer to try to get one and they looked at me like WHAT? does any body have a part number, and - or is there an aftermarket supplyer of high amp alternators? will i run any risks with such high amps?

I have a 180 amp that I need to get fixed (I think a wire grounded out somewhere inside) that I will be selling in the next week or two.

You can definitely get a 145 amp from the dealer, and I think the 160 might be available on the police package trucks, but I'm not positive about that one.

I found my 145 amp take-off on ebay for $50, but that's a rare deal.

Nope. Stock is 105. Unless you get the one that comes factory with e-fans, then I believe it's 145.
