Default Bose "subwoofer" in center console, any good?

Is the Bose speaker in the front of the center console worth using ? I have an Alpine deck with internal amp I could power it with. Thanks.

Not really. It will add a small amount of bass (no punch), but it's still only a 7" paper cone in a box. The lower-tier system (14w RMS to each speaker) with the rear seat subwoofer will outperform the Bose.

The only thing the Bose system had going for it was a (very basic) DSP and 18w RMS to each door speaker. Other than that, no advantages.

No. Bose electronics eliminates a lot of the deep subwoofer signals. They do this so the deep signals do not bottom out the 7" sub at normal volume. If you try to use it with an aftermarket amp and radio you will not be happy with it.

Sorry posted from my phone with limited service.

I have 2 10's in the back of my trck and I also still run the bose sub as well. I think it gives the system a little more depth. That little sub isn't much, but it is nice filler for the front seats.

Yea the bose sub does a good job of hitting the mids and keeping the music 'full'

How did you guys run the bose system as well as your aftermarket system? Did you just tap into the blue REM wire and add the aftermarket amp to that and then run the RCAs to the back of the deck?

The Bose sub is damn good !! Sounds awesome !! Very rich and full and produces great low bass for how small it is. For a stock system the Bose kicks ***.

The Bose sub is ok , it doesn't hit as hard as I would like , but gives a nice full sound.

Ok see what I did ? Depending on the vehicle is what makes the difference.
The Denali , escalade and even my 05 Tahoe Z71 have a LUX amp , this provides awesome sound quality and amazing bass from that small sub.

The other vehicles with Bose system that don't have the lux amp sound good , but not great or have powerful bass . My 07 Duramax had this Bose , and it wasn't as good as our Tahoe .

I once tried putting a JL audio 6W something (lol) in a Bose center console with a small kicker amp hooked up to it in my old 04 ecsb Z71 , it sounded poor and did not hit low at all

If you want great kick *** audiophile sound from a stock system get a Bose LUX amp , there is a write up on how to install them on the diesel place .

Side note my NNBS Denali with Bose ******* rocks too , I won't be needing to add a sub . It jams hard loud clear and deep .
