AVIC-D3 install in 05 silverado
#11
Oh God! Don't do that! I just did this install and it is a pain to get that thing back in after taking it out!
Just wondering...did you have a problem with the illumination? The Metra GMOS-04 wiring harness has an orange wire for illumination (so the HU knows when the headlights are on so it can dim) and an orange/white wire for dimmer. I tried both these wires and got nothing! So with furthur inspection I noticed the illumination wire was matching up to NOTHING (no connection) in the stock wiring harness! So I opted to simply run a wire behind the cluster to the headlight switch, works great now!

I had to hack up a bunch of crap inside my dash to get it to fit in all the way. I eventually just took the top dash cover off to organize everything and mount the GPS antenna under there. I paid $200 for a damn adapter to work with onstar and the door chimes- and the door chimes still dont work

I took it off just to organize all the wires and crap under there. I put the antenna up near the front left so it gets a better signal, I probably could have reached up under there to do it but taking the dash off only takes like 5 minutes
