Default Amp question, keeps turning off

Hey guys. I got a JL 500/1 amp and ive been having some trouble with it. The thing is about 4 years old and it has started to cut off when i turn my volume up . Now it is not turning on at all, but it is getting juice. Does anyone know what this could be or what is causing it. Any help would be great, thanks....

It might be overheating. Check to see if the fan is blowing.

If its not blowing you might have burned it up. How many and what size speaker did you have on it?

Check your remote wire also it could be loose are it may have been cut from rubbing on something for so long. Take a voltage tester with the radio on and check the remote terminal and make sure it has power.

Its getting power from the wires, i even checked the remote, but the amp is just not turning on. Before it would at least turn on and run till i turned the volume up and then cut off. I will check and see if the remote wire is still intact, that sounds like a possible scenario. Thanks

make sure the speaker wire hasnt freyed out and touched the casing of the amp. thats what mine did. i would barely turn it up and it would cut off. looked at what was going on and one lil frey of the wire was touching the metal on the amp case and was putting it into protection mode when i fed it any juice.

Yea I had problems with my remote wire up under my carpet . It was frayed from being under ther so long. It was a PITA to find the problem but that's what ya get for not taking time when runnin wires.
