You don't need a bigger alternator. I would get a Cap for the system though or add another battery. I know a lot of people that have had trouble with buying a bigger amp.

I run 3 12's 2400 watt amp, 5 Tv's, E-fans, 6 6.5's, remote start system, fog lights and some more on the stock Alternator, just had to add a nice 1.5 farad cap and it helped out a lot.

In my experience, typically capacitors just add more problems. They're more like a temporary band-aid for an audio system, and will still require the same load on the alternator.

A capacitor will help if your volts drop incredibly low, but they're sometimes not good for different types of music. Bass heavy music will render a capacitor useless.

In my opinion, if you're getting to a point where you need a capacitor, it's just better to put that money towards a good battery, (higher CCA = better), a HO alternator (there are really expensive ones, and there are decent ones for a good price), and add a nice grounding kit.
