I guess I just 'guessed' on 8" because it is "standard" but am more that willing to use something else if it will work just as well/better.

HAT, dyn, there's quite a few of them.

these do good IB in doors. if you can get crafty and make a little *ported* enclosure for them, they turn into kimbo slice after drinking a 12'er of redline energy drinks......

not really sure how I would make an enclosure in the door (any ideas?)......so I was planning on looking for free air versions (I know they suck compared to enclosed drivers but....).

I have used 2-6.5 CDTs in each door on another systems I put together and I think they would perform better than a single 8". The CDTs were acurate clean and had a sharp response that I don't think the 8" could match. Just another opinion to consider.

2-6.5s in each door? are they both midbass and/or subs? any pictures of how you did the setup? I'm curious as to how you did the layout.

IMHO it would be way more trouble to build an enclosure in each door to get the little bit of extra midbass out of an 8" sub when you can get a decent set of 6.5" that will fit in the factory hole and should give u enough midbass.

not to mention like i stated earlier the 8" subs will probably rattle the crap out of the doors which could put a damper on the overall sound of the system.

ive got 5.25" components in the kicks and 6.5" components in the doors and they have enough midbass to blend in just fine with my 2 12" subs....once again its just my humble opinion....

I can't find any pics but they were stacked in the grill location and fit with a little trimming and an MDF baffle where the factory grills are located. Kick panels would probably be a little less effort for the same results.

good point, it does take some fabbing to pull it off cleanly. the diff will make that ported DD 6.5 eat an 8" IB,.... but it is a lot of extra work to hassle with.

don't mind me, i have a bad habbit of doing things to the extreme.

i even suggest doing some dampening work to the door with a 6.5 mid bass.

AZgrower over on diyma builds those pods for the NBS doors. he does a great job, you also could also hit him up for pics or pricing. he does them very reasonable. just tell him "el jeffe" sent you.

depending on how **** you are about your soundstage, is also where to consider driver placement. for soundstage, down in the kicks tends to be better for mids with mid bass in the doors.

but if the "ideal soundstage" isn't high on your priorities, put your mid bass driver down there instead. you get a natural cabin gain in the mid bass from that location. take advantage of that with a midbass speaker down there will get you more bang for the buck.

you can probably score some Qlogics on ebay and beef them up. they make ones for 6.5's now, back in the day i used to mod them to fit 6.5's. rough the underside up with sandpaper, clean it with rubbing alcohol, then paste on about 1/4" thick of liquid nails (except near fittament areas). after it sets up dry, put some vibration deadener on them. after they're installed and before you put the speakers in them, come up with some tricks to get a better seal around any spots that will leak out the rear wave.
