Default 2007.5 radio locked

Ok, My radio says "lock" on the display. I have searched these forums and nothing but the dealership route shows up. Surely someone has found a way around this stupid theftlock crap. I have tried the "proceedure" thats for the classic trucks but that doesnt work

I called the closest dealer near me and they charge $55, another one charges $43, both sound like a rippoff to me but Im the one without a cd player. Eveything I come accross says I need a tech2 and a program. Am I screwed or is there a hacker out there who can beat GM?

Thanks for any help, I drive an hour each way to work and thats a long damn hour with no tunes.

Is it the theftlock feature, or is the radio from a different vehicle?

It needs to be programmed and setup performed. Don't know anyone but a dealership that can do that.
We usually charge $51 to program them.

Yep, it won't work until it's programmed with your VIN. You need to make a friend at your dealer.

Thats what I was afraid of. Hell, I only gave $40 for the radio. Now I have to spend another $50 just to hear it!

Would a shop have this equipment to do this, like a North Hills Automotive or some other shop with ASC certified mechanics? It cant take more than 10 mins to do it. Or is this a "Dealership Only" procedure?

Thanks

Well, I hated to do it but its now unlocked. I called around and found a dealership that would do it for $45, cheapest I could find. Only took them about 20 mins and most of that time it was just sittting there with no one in it.

At least I have my tunes. Now I just need to upgrade my speakers.

Yeah you just start the programming process and walk away. You actually don't touch the vehicle much but to turn the key on, plug MDI in, and turn the key off.

Glad you got is worked out, and it was a simple fix! You gotta remember that the equipment required to do this job is expensive, and the only way the shop recovers its expenses is to charge labor. Most shops have a minimum 1/2 hour labor charge for any service they provide.

Yea, I wasn't spectin to get it done for free but I thought $25-$30 would've been the range. Its all good, I have one with the aux port and that alone was worth the radio. I don't have to hear those annoying commercials in the mornings, that kicks ***.

I wonder if a small amp could fit in the dash somewhere. Wouldn't hurt to have a little more power to the speakers, once I upgrade them.
