We were able to simulate the report feedback to the FPCM to duplicate what the FPCM was desiring. It still doesn't work, same code. it looks like this part of our idea is not going to work. So, as far as this fuel system design goes, it will support 1000 hp, but if you keep the FPCM and stock fuel pump, it will have a check engine light, however it does not effect anything, it doesn't even need the electronic device we made to trick the fpcm, runs the same way either way. So, this fuel system is bolt in and go, but you have a check engine light. When it comes time to get it inspected, I am just going to pull power to the aeromotive pump, and move the main fuel feed line to the rail directly as if the surge tank is not there and it will pass inspection this way because the check engine light will not be present in this condition as the FPCM and fuel pump will be properly functioning like stock then. My other option would be to remove the FPCM, and just fabricate a Walbro fuel pump into the stock sending unit, then this check engine light will be gone, because there will be no report back from the FPCM where this is coming from. I am just going to just leave it like this for now anyway.

So, the key things learned here, you can pretty much do whatever external fuel system you want after the FPCM even using the stock pump (personally I think what we did is best, but to each his own), and it will work just fine as long as you don't mind having a check engine light, and a way to bypass the system temporarily to get rid of the check engine and pass inspection.

I love this build! Tons of great info. Maybe I missed it but what is the race weight?

race weight is approximately 5200 lbs. Its not official, just a guess, never weighed it.

To keep the stock FPCM happy, but to get the fuel I need under boost, I did a Hallman diesel sump at the bottom of my tank, into an inline Walbro 255 on a Racetronix hot wire kit with 4psi pressure switch, then Y'd it into the stock pump feed line. I put a check valve before the Walbro so I dont have backfeed and pressure drop issues. We will be testing it in the next week or so on the dyno, but I dont see having any issues with the way its set up. All the while the stock flex fuel pump and FPCM "should" stay happy running like normal with no CEL.

I like your idea , my original idea was very similar to yours because it is very simple, and not expensive. The only reason I decided not to do something like that was because I didn't think it would be enough fuel to support how much power I was attempting to make. Good luck and keep us posted with your results, how much power does your truck have?

I only want 600 to the ground (Im not greedy, LOL), but I dont see why this set up wouldnt support up to 700 I assume. If I want more power in the future, I see it being as easy as swapping inline pumps and going larger. I have -6 feed line from the stock pump fitting at the top of the tank, as well as coming off the sump to the 255. It then Y's together into -8 along the frame, until it splits going into the fuel rails. I figured this was the simplest way to get around the stock FPCM issues, and still have plenty of fuel and line size to upgrade in the future.

My check engine light stays on also I am also a flex fuel or was Ive put down high and low 700s also in the past. My truck was down for months trying to figure out the problem at the end it has a stand a lone type system I am not 100% sure on it since I was out of town for most of my build

What an impressive build! A 10 second truck with power under the pedal... must be insane!

Usually its called a Lightning lol. Some get there with the 2.3. I think Chevy really messed up not offering something similar. Great to see this Mike!

So Mike how do you remove the FPCM? My truck is a flex fuel and up to this point I have actually been good with the stock Flex Fuel pump. But I know when I hit it with boost Im going to have to do something. Im fine with removing the FPCM I just don't want to see and CELs. How are the Camaro guys going around this they have the same FPCM too right?

Heres my idea on the setup...

Using the power and ground that go to the stock pump and having it signal a relay. That relay to add power to a external Magnafuel pump and going like that. Will that even work? I have no experience with the FPCM so I'm not 100% sure how it works. Basically my setup would be kind of like carbons using a sump on the stock tank going through a external pump/filter and into the rails. Keep the stock bucket only for fuel level but removing the pump.
