WOW, I hope this does not happen here!

one thing for sure, it's going to drive away the people that made it what it is. The sponsors purposely endorsed that site and affiliated themselves with the patrons of that board, Google Ads is only taking key words from the page and pulling from a bank of advertisers who have no idea where their ads are showing up.... think they care what-so-ever about supporting the forum and the sport that created the market for the very thing that they are selling??? my opinion is simple - don't click the ads, use an ad blocker software so you don't even see them and if you must see the ads boycot the companies advertising with Google, which shouldn't be too hard to do b/c our sponsors usually have the better pricing anyway.

Most browsers now have ad blockers integrated within. I never see a pop up unless I gave permission to allow something from a particular domain.
Saw the Google ads on Tech, and not really feeling it. Seems that move was driven behind potentially maximizing revenue, and opening opportunities for non-sponsors to potentially create a customer base. Sponsors may interpret that as injection of non-sponsor competition. Hope sponsors don't back out behind that move.

I would too... if this adds potential for non-sponsors to get business from a customer base that I'm paying to advertise to, what's the point? Sure the non-sponsors (for Tech) are paying Google for advertisement, but I'm sure Google's not giving owners of Tech maximum profit unless ads are clicked, etc. That results in business pulled from a sponsor who's investing time & money to Tech customers.
Business is business, sure... but I hope the investment in Google outweighs the direct sponsor contribution if sponsors (prior to Google being added) pull contributions to Tech.
