When you pay the equivalent of $8 per gallon, those cars are actually quite attractive. That's why those type of cars are popular in the European countries.

they're ugly but they actually can hold their own pretty damn good in a high speed crash(for their size). They did some testing on some of those smaller european cars (Like the SMART) and the videos show them holding up damn good as they hit a concrete barrier doing 70mph. Oddly enough, they're really well designed
