Get a rear end from a 95+ Explorer. They have 8.8 rears and commonly have 3.55-3.73's, as well as LSD's . I believe the correct year is 00' up all have disk brakes.

Unless you want to run Explorer wheels on the back, you need to drill the axles for our bolt pattern. Leaf spring perches are only 1/2 difference, so a tug on the springs and they will pop into place. Shocks still work the same. Adapter for the driveshaft, maybe shorten a tad. A little brake bending for the brakes, E. Brake works the same.

The 8.5 Blazer rears are hard to come by around here. Explorer rears are easy to find and tons cheaper if you do find one. From what I have read, the 8.8 will take tons more abuse than an 8.5.

Plus the Explorer 8.8 has 31 spline axles.

i think i'd rather have the 8.5 because it is direct fit, until i can afford a 12 bolt or 9"

I wish the 8.6" out of my Silverado would fit in the S-10.. that would be awesome.

why not just get another junkyard 80e for cheap? I was looking and FLT wants $1900 for an 80e with just a shift kit plus a core?

cause i dont want to put a $1000 stall in a junkyard trans. Ive been thru this whole transmission times a few times.. I want to put something in the Silverado i can trust.
I still have to take the stock 80E apart and fix the shift kit before i swap it in the S-10. Have everything to do it in my room.

It's actually $1100. The stall costs twice as much as my 80 lol.
