Default My Dilemma.

So i have deduced that the tapping that i am hearing is none other than a lifter. Should i tear off the heads and replace the lifters and put a set of lightly milled heads on there or should i just say ***** it and start looking for a 6.0 and wait till summer to do a swap?

(mind you my motor currently has 102k on it )

Depends on what youre wanting. A few guys have gotten great times out of the 5.3, but I can tell you driving a 6.0 just feels so much better. If you really want a 6l just wait and swap one in.

I really think you want the moped though

The 6.0s gonna be more fun but, a bit more pricey I'd imagine if you do all that needs to be done.

I can sell some things like the heads, cam, extras from the 5.3 but hell, its still gonna be expensive as ****. Thats why ill wait till the summer and just deal with that ******* tapping noise. During the summer, ill have my job back so ill be able to swing it.

i voted for the 6.0 also but i am doing the heads/lifters... im having an AWFUL tapping noise....about 100x worse than beau's, no lie, and i already have a set of heads to be milled and need the lifters to be swapped. not to mention i got my oil changed probably about a month ago and i have already dumped 3 extra qts of oil in and my "check engline oil level" light has come on once.... damn my crappy valves... sorry for the rant

Beau, I didnt actually vote. It will cost more to do a 6l swap, but it can be done for a decent price. My swap (including the cam) was only about $1500 or so. I know it was less than 2k I dont have any special heads, but I do have a 6L
