Default LED lights.

i have seen pictures of what others have done,
looks damn nice.
so i thought i would give it a try today on the controls
for the ac and heater.
well got it done, wife wants me to do hers now, but.........
have some bad news.
all i did was change out the lights and i have no control over the vents.
the vent is open on the dash and will not move.
i have no control over the ac or heat.
the heat is now on all the time.
i don't know how i did it, but i screwed it up, it looks pretty but it
don't work any more.
now i have to buy a new control unit, just wish i knew how much i screwed
my self for?

I think the control unit sells for 90'ish from the dealer. I remember seeing somewhere on tech where the same thing happened to another member. It was totally screwed.

You can do the cluster, Matt (TooTall) has a thread on how he did it. All it is is about 10-20 bux of special little LED thingies that plug right in.

sounds like you got a resistor too hot . . .
What kind of LEDs did you use in the a/c controls? . . . did you replace the stock resistor
I killed my first one, I used a probe soddering iron, and I messed up something on the board.

There's gotta be a plug and play kit for this stuff to keep from soldering on your controls and stuff...

i used the 5mm super brite leds to replace the bulbs.
i used 1 resistor with 1 led on each socket.
replaced the 4 bulbs on the large panel that back lit the controls.
then replaced the 4 smaller bulbs on the small panel that lit the buttons.

i found a replacement control on e bay.

I replaced the bulbs in my temperature control unit just before I sold the truck. Those bulbs are soldered in and have no "plug and play" capability. I didn't have any problems, but I'm also in the electronics profession.
