Default how to "BB" mod your Tstat

this is your water pump and thermostat.

using a 10mm socket unbolt the thermostat housing from the water pump (notice our water pump is off the truck, this is not necessary for this mod)

once unbolted this is what it will look like. notice the rubber O-ring. You do not have to replace it unless you break it.

a more closeup shot of the thermostat and the rubber O-ring and BB

using a set of channel locks you push in on the two tabs that hold the insides of the thermostat in the housing. Twist as you push in against the spring to free the tabs from the keepers.

You will see here how the spring will be removed from the housing. One other peice remains inside.

Just pull that remaining piece from the housing and you will see the cylindrical tube inside the housing. That is where the BB goes.

Notice the BB inside the cylindrical tube. Now we can reverse what we did to dismantle it.

Finished product.

the brand of BB used in this demonstration. I recommend the silver BB over the copper ones.

This tech how to was brought to you by Goshawk23 and White1.

We are in no way responsible for any misfortunes you may have in doing this mod. We are merely demonstrating how to perform the poor mans thermostat mod. This mod will lower your operating temp of your tstat but i have found it varies with vehicle and mods.

Wow, you can do this mod 5999 more times

Anyone know how much it lowers the temp of the t-stat opening?

The BBs are zinc coated so that is possible but unlikely.
