Default help in houston area.

my asp pulley and belts will be here tomorrow

did a search on the install, and found all kinds of conflicting results....some say you can reuse the factory bolt, some say to get a new bolt. some say to use loc-tite and others dont mention it. every thread gives different torque specs, and none of them give a great description of how to lock everything up so the crank dosent spin...i also dont have a torque wrenh that will reach 200+lbs...anyone that has successfully installed a crank pulley wana help a noobie out?

I can tell you how. May not be the same way others do it, but it has worked for me several times. Pull the old pulley (I assume you can do this) Use a torch and heat the inside of the new pulley and slide it on, it should go all the way without having to "pull" it on with a bolt. It is recomended to use a new bolt, but I have only once. If you re-use the old bolt Id slap a little lock-tite on it while you have it out. I think the torque specs are 80 lb-ft then 140* but I just tighten the **** out of em.

I have never used a new bolt, and no problems with them.

id use a new bolt IMO. Its an extra $4.00 of insurance. They are supposed to be torque to yeild but i doubt my weak *** could put enough *** on them to cause them to stretch.

i think ill get the new bolt for 4 bux... so basically i pull off the old pulley and then tighten the new one down as tight as i possibly can? ive seen other threads saying to use different length bolts, back off after hitting 200lbs then retorque to 30 sumthin and then go another 120* or some **** like that i dont want problems

just put everything you got on that wrench with a cheater pipe and you might be able to turn it close to what it should be. My LS1 book says that they have yet to see someone badass enough to be able to torque to spec. Like i said, Just put so much *** on it that you start to feel your bowels give way (damn near herniate yourself) and then you can stop. We had me and my roommate trying to tighten the pulley on Exhappen's truck.

If it can be broken, I can break that bolt!!! That's cause I've got twice the *** you got.

You've done them before? I need to learn how, that TR220 isn't going in by itself.
