Just wanted to let all the GA peeps know about this car show in October! It always has a great turn out and is family friendly! Here is some info on the show!
"Wings and Wheels" Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show
Saturday, October 14, 2006 (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Approximately 250 vintage, classic and customized cars, trucks and motorcycles will be displayed once again at the Museum of Aviation during the 14th Annual Wings and Wheels Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, October 14, 2006. Proceeds from the show sponsored by Warner Robins Ford Lincoln Mercury in Warner Robins benefit the Museum of Aviation, one of the largest education-focused aviation museums in the United States. The show is free to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Vehicle entrants will compete for trophies in 47 judged classes and have free chances to win door prizes and cash giveaways.
Spectators can also win big. Drawings will be held for tickets to an evening concert at the Georgia National Fair, Theater Macon season tickets and a ride in a WWII-era open-cockpit bi-plane. Papa John’s Pizza will also hold a drawing for “free pizza for a year.”
“Cards For Kids” Poker Run
A “Cards For Kids” Poker Fun Run will be held on Friday evening, Oct. 12, starting from the Museum of Aviation. This event, sponsored by Corvettes Ltd. Of Central Georgia, Steak and Shake and Hooters Restaurants on Margie Drive, is open to anyone with any type vehicle and supports several education programs provided by the Museum of Aviation. A $10 entry fee includes a chance to win $75, $50 and $25 prizes for best five-card poker hands along with a variety of door prizes. Pre-registration is not required. Vehicles must register at the Museum of Aviation between 6:00 pm and 6:45 pm, cruise to selected merchants in Warner Robins for cards and surprises and end at Steak and Shake and Hooters for an outdoor party with disc jockey Tommy Landrum.
“Runway Races” for Kids and Other Attractions
The actual Wings and Wheels show on Saturday, Oct. 13, will be fun for the whole family with ‘50s and ‘60s oldies music by Tommy Landrum, performances by the award-winning Southern Flare Cloggers, plastic model and radio controlled aircraft models on display, vintage race cars from the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame and “Runway” Races for children ages 3 and up. For a $5 entry fee, children can bring their 6-volt and 12-volt battery operated vehicles to the Museum between 9:00 am and 10:00 am for races down the 200-foot simulated runway in the Museum picnic area. Each young driver will receive a prize. The “Full Throttle” monster truck, from Outdoor Adventures in Sevierville, Tennessee will return to the Museum to take enthusiasts around the Museum grounds for only $5.00/person.
Registration Information
Vehicle registration for Wings and Wheels is $20 prior to October 3rd and $25 after that. Military members receive a $5 discount at registration. Vehicle entry is at the Museum’s Hwy 247 gate between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Trailored vehicles will compete for separate awards. Vehicles “For Sale” may enter a non-competitive “Car Corral” for $10.
