If you play at all it pays to replace before this happens. I"ve heard of G80s taking out trannies.

yeah i broke my g80 and trans when i got my truck but i was jumpin it and did not realize that i had to let of the gas befor landing. chevy put in a new rear end and trans now i dont jump it as much.

I guess I got lucky when my G80 took a dump. The center pin started coming out and knocking against the pinion gear. Didn't do any damage to anything.

I can pretty much guess at how it broke like that. Here's my theory. The little retaining bolt that holds the cross pin in place broke (very common) and that let the cross pin slide out while he was gong down the road and when it came out far enough, it bound up the whole carrier and broke it in half. That my best guess any how, from looking at the damage.
