Default does any know about the EV1 by GM

i just watched a movie called.
Who killed the electric car.

this car came out in 1996 and i never heard of it.
looked like a nice car to own.
got a top speed of 85 to 90.
when it first came out it could go 120 miles on a charge.
two years later a new type of battry doubled the distance on a charge.
and now in 2006 some company developed a battry pack that would have
taken the car over 300 miles on a charge.

after paying 3.00 a gallion for gas this past year, i wonder how much
money i could have saved if i had one as a work car.

They tested some here in Phoenix, saw a few driving around. They were ugly....but it was a GM test program, they didn't actually sell the cars...GM still owned them.

Yeah, I never understood why they make those Hybrids or electric cars look so damn ugly. If they made them look cool people might actually buy more of them. It seems to me they spend all the design budget on top notch engineers to get the car to function and pay minium wage to the person who styles the damn car.

the cars were never sold. a few were leased (hence: "taken back"). At lease end GM pulled them off the road. They weren't hitting their goals with the car, so they started over.
