ok, i need you peoples opinion/experience. me and my wife bought a new dodge nitro today. i was planning to put $2000 down, and forgot all about it while signing paperwork. so did the finance guy. i did not even think about it until i was half way home from the dealership. in my copy of the contract, it shows my $2000 down. so, am i obligated to still pay my down payment, or is the dealership liable since they forgot to get my debit card from me? from my experience in the motorcycle business, the dealership would be at fault, and the customer is not liable. any feedback is appreciated.

Well there is the morality issue to consider also, no? If you intended to pay the $2K then they forgot to run your card I'd say you should probably go back in the morning. If you play right, and they are cool you might earn yourself a break in the future.

If it's in your favor, then hell yea that's awesome but kinda "shady" at the same time ya know. Not that you're a bad person, but some people frown upon that kinda stuff. I don't know the legal side of all of that though. I'm sure you could find somethin through google, I'll look for ya.

Uh... at some point in time, the dealership will review all financial paperwork. At that moment, they'll contact you to discuss the discrepancy. The dealership called me regarding a $37 difference on payoff for my trade for my wife's Armada.
Don't spend the money. You'll hear from the dealership soon enough.

what stealership?
I would go back, and pay it, like it was said before they will review their finances and possibly find it, then they will contact you, and if you want pay, possibly repossess the vehicle... I wouldn't put it past a stealership to do that.
