Default Boss told me no more Car websites while at work!!!

Today my senior manager told me that I can not look at car websites while I am at work!! This is some serious bullshit and a bad case of MicroManaging!! Man I was pissed. I write financial applications at work, so I do alot of data pulls from databases and mainframes (100k - 1M records on an average pull). The amount of data I usually pull takes from 1-30 minutes depending on what it is. But all that data get compressed and sumed so the output is basically a slide on a chart. So while the processes are running I flip over to various websites. Apparently my director peaked over the cube wall the other day and got upset or something. I don't see the problem, I always get my work done way before anyone else and way before it is due. 99.9% of the time it is error free, unlike my fellow co-workers... It is not like I am looking up kiddy **** or animal sex websites.....

After he told me that, I was like ok, whats next, I can't listen to my head phones?

Sorry just had to vent....

That sucks man... Damn **** managers.
I'm so glad the place I work doesn't worry about that stuff, (yet anyway) I have over 11 gigs of MP3's on my work computer. They do block photobucket though so I can't see most of the pictures at work. I think they do that for bandwidth reasons though since photobucket has streaming video.

i can see where a boss could think that you are wasting time on his dollar, but if you are completing the tasks you are given on time, then i dont really see what the problem is. i work construction, so i cant input anything there.

if you really wanted to get technical, this website is a TRUCK website, not a car website

I actually thought about being a smart *** and saying that!!! The real kicker is that I just got promoted this week!!!! Basically 2-3 years ahead of normal promotion policies, because I do such a good job. Most guys in my department at that pay grade are in there 40's... Then I get tagged with this, I was just like WTF!!!

I don't know if I'd say that, but most companies keep logs of proxy traffic. That helps Auditing/Security monitor/track activity incoming and outgoing. Most companies don't hunt for trouble unless advised/directed/suggested to do so. So.... sounds like someone is sippin' on Hater-ade.
