Thanks for the reply Curt !

I'm putting a 383 Stroker in my Z as we speak. Cam is a 232/601 242/617 on a 113 + 2. Going with exact same motor in the truck but not sure if the same cam will work with an Auto\3400 stall and 411 gears. My heads are from my Z and need to be ported. Just curious what people are using for a head\cam combo for a 1/4 mile machine and still streetable.

Having any launch problems from the torque ?

I don't know cams, but there are several guys here that do maybe they will chime in. My cam is in my sig. and I run a big turbo. My heads have a good hand porting job and springs. I run slicks at the track...the track HAS to be preped good . I believe the best sixty i've got so far is a 1.58.
I have a few videos posted you could check out. Are you going to run nitrous or all motor?

Both...don't have a roll bar so most runs will be NA. Planning on a 200 shot when I can get away with it (prob track rental days or last run of the day).
A 12.06 on a 75 shot is best to date...still running the old 5.3 iron block with ZO6 heads. Have a 4 link suspension now with the 12 way adj shocks, ET Streets, but having some launch trouble already. A 1.70 sixty has been all I could get so far. Getting spin and a little hop with 13 psi in tires. That was why I was asking about all the added torque with the stroker.

Sounds like I need to be asking about your suspension setup..(mine sux).

Cam sounds fine for that stall and gear. It should be a beast! Even with trucks, when you get to that kind of stall, do you really worry about low end? That cam is definately not over the top for those cubes in a truck.
Curt just has Caltracs and adjustable shocks for suspension. Nothing special but he needs some fine tuning.

I bet you just need the proper adjustments on your 4 link. I have read where some guys have 4/5* pinion angle and cut some good sixty's. I have hotchkis springs, QA-1 adjustable shocks and caltracs. I haven't adjusted the caltracs yet...i think you are supposed to pre load them but I run them with a fingers width between them and the springs right now.

Thanks TG,
I need to get to work on some things for sure. I haven't got the Z running yet to feel out the cam...was puzzled if the same cam would work for a truck with 1000 more pounds on the low end. Guess you are right.
