Interesting read, I am not sure I agree, but it does have some merit...

yea i read that and I figure it just depends on how your driving also. If you drive like grandma then maybe only every 5K and if you like to punch it like most of us then I'd say 3K or 4K. But I'm wondering should I wait to have my trucks light kick on about changing the oil or change it always before it kicks on.

dont change with the light. thats what I call a dummy light IMO. or a womans reminder. record your mileage on the clear sticky things that go in the upper left of your windshield and go by that. check oil regularly....when your pumping gas is a perfect time.

I used to change every 3-4K, but nowadays I don't really give a crap. I go by the monitor and change it when it gets down to 20-25% and top off as needed. It has cut my oil changes in half. I trade cars too often to worry about them lasting forever.
Less oil change $$ = More beer $$.

my foot is in the gas 100% of the time. 5-6k is when i change. motor has been on royal purple since 30k.

do one complete oil change after 15000 to 20000 miles, just change my oil filter after 2500 miles and top off.
rofl about that light its just a pain in the *** having that thing come on.

whn i bought the truck 3 years ago i used mobil-1 immediately, and did every 5000 miles, but the light usually would come on within 200-500 miles of changing anyways, so now i just use the "dummy light", the way i drive it is about equal
