but i think having a section just for custom tuning is perfect..i really dont even read the tuning section any more because there is too much discussing of mail orders and handhelds which i think are point less compared to a dyno tune..

I agree with zippy and and jm on the handheld stuff, but honestly I dont think anyone here is really advanced. And in my opinion those that are, are only a select few. Maybe 2 or 4. Plus I am always in the tuning section and i really dont see many advanced threads. Just the normal how do i do wideband tuning, how do i adjust my new flow rate.

I guess I am thinking advanced as for the really hardcore stuff. Like hooking up a dual fuel system. Something along those lines.

Maybe the tuning section just needs to get cleaned up somehow.

Maybe just change it all around a little and have a basic tuning section, with an advanced sub-section, and a seperate diagnostics section. Use the basic tuning for hand helds and such, and use the advanced section for HPT,LS1 EDIT, etc..

There are alot more people doing their own tuning than you'd guess around here. I stay out of the tuning forum on here mainly for the reason of having to sift through all the non-tuning related posts. Buying a mail order tune is no different than a set of headers. You call, give a credit card number, and it shows up. There is no tuning in that. There may be a use for a section relating to PCM tuning and diagnostics. That would put the actual PCM tuning stuff in the tuning section and give a place for asking about SES lights, trouble codes, mail order tuning, hand held tuning, etc.

wouldnt people associate PCM tuning with how do i order my nelson tune? or how do i install my new tune? being that they are still dealing with PCM's

No, not if you put it in the listing for that forum to not allow it. Having the word tune in your question doesn't imply tuning. Plain and simple, if you aren't tuning it, it isn't a PCM tuning question.

I agree with whomever came up with this idea. I like it LOL!

Just put a sticky that has the Advanced tuning section rules. Let it state...no handhelds, no mail order tunes, this section is for tuning software owners who have technical questions about specific tables and how to adjust them to get desired results. Under the Advanced tuner heading it could look like this:

Advanced Engine Tuning Software
LS1 Edit HPT EFI Live Tuner Cat

Leave the current tuning section for SES light questions, handhelds, mail order tunes, and general questions about installing the PCM and handheld tunes.
