On the page where you upload your avatar it says at the bottom.
"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)."

which to me means it CAN be more than 100x100 as long as it's under 19.5kb. or it can be more than 19.5kb as long as its 100x100 or under. (whichever is smaller)
i've managed to get one down to 50x50 pixels and 20.9kb. 50x50 being SMALLER than 100x100.
I had to go all the way down to 34x35 to get it to 19.4kb so it would take, and now it's so small you can't tell what it is.

what are the tricks? when i save it in photoshop i take the quality down to 0 to reduce the file size as much as possible and i crop it as far as i can.

thats the pic. i did everything i could think of to reduce it but apparently i'm not to savvy on cutting down file sizes.
