Pretty sure the "parves" dude reviving the thread is a spambot for the site he linked. Noticed he is a new member on another site too with nearly the same activity, reviving an old thread about 4L65E vs. 4L70E. Plus, the comment about the gear ratios being different is wrong. 4L70E has same gear ratios as 4L65E, 4L60E, 4L60/700R4. 3.06 1st, 1.62 2nd, 1.00 3rd, 0.70 4th.
According to GM's sales info, 4L70E improvements include "five-pinion gearsets, heat-treated stator shaft splines, induction-hardened turbine shaft, seven-plate clutch and specific valve-body calibration" and is supposed to be good for 495 lb/ft torque rating vs the 4L65E's 430 lb/ft rating. However the 4L65E sales info boasts those same features (other than the torque rating and "specific valve-body calibration" so who knows what else is different between the two units.)
Want real beef in the same form factor? Gotta go 4L75E for the 650 lb/ft rating. What's different? "five-pinion gearsets, heat-treated stator shaft splines, induction-hardened turbine shaft, 8-friction-plate 3-4 clutch and specific valve-body calibration. It also has a unique, high-strength input housing, high capacity servo, and large 2–4 band."
Dunno if I want to test the 12/12 warranty on any of them after paying what they cost, though. About $3840 for the 4L70E, $4300 for the 4L75E. Minus $250 mail-in rebate through 12/31/2021...
