I have a kicker zx250.2 amp...its 2 channel obviously, an each channel is stable at 2ohms. But I'd like to run my 2 4ohm dvc subs wired parallel/parellel with the channels bridged. That would create a 2ohm load. On kickers website it says 250watts bridged 4ohm, but doesnt say if its stable at 2ohms bridged. Anyone know?

Believe it or not, I've searched there extensively. They dont even have that particular amp for sale! But Kickers website only says its stable at 4ohms bridged. So, since I have 2 4ohm dvc subs, I plan on wiring the voice coils in series, and then the actual subs in parallel to the amp bridged. That should give me a 4ohm load, correct?

 

http://www.kicker.com/resistance_formulas This should help! If it says the amp is stable at 4 ohms bridged then that's as low as you should go without overworking/overheating the amp.

 

You could also just wire each speaker into one channel and you will have 2 ohms per speaker. If your gettin your signal from an aftermarket headunit then it should have a sub output, split it at the amp with a Y and your good.

 

What kind of subs do you have? That is an awfully small amp imo

The only way you are going to be able to do this is to wire it this way:


Dual 2s you could actually wire them at 4 ohms a piece then bridge them together and terminate at the amp.

 

I have it wired as shown, but its only putting 125watts to each sub, which Ithink isn't enough. But If I wire the subs in parallel to the amp bridged, they will see 250 watts...

 

Yes, but you are taking a chance on overheating the amp and eventually frying it. If you plan to buy a new amp then i say go for it all we are trying to say is that sooner or later the amp will be toast.


What kind of subs do you have? The reason i ask is because under powering the subs can be more harmful than over powering them in the long run.

 

I have kicker cvr10's...thats why I'm tryin to wire them to get 250watts to them...they are rated for 300-400 max

 

Well you are not going to be able to do it regardless with that amp because when you have two subs wired to 2 ohm then you wire them together bridging them to the amp this will be a 1 ohm load which will be way too low for that amp. I have seen some kickers run 2 ohm bridged but it is amp specific. Some will some wont. For sure though they will not run at 1 ohm bridged. The only option on that amp is to wiring them to 2 ohm like you said then run one per channel.

However, if they are cvr's like you say with the silver cone then they are 400 watts rms per sub and no matter how you wire that amp you will never get enough power for those subs. You need a bigger amp that is all there is to it.
