I went up to the GM parts dealership today and ordered a SS tailgate handle and bezel. The idea is to paint to match and have a smooth bezel/handle in the back. I figured since the SS handles come painted, they would be perfectly smooth, thus saving me alot of prep work. However, I went outside and looked at an Intimidator SS, and its tailgate handle was just the regular dimpled plastic, but painted black. Obviously, I could have done this with my normal tailgate handle.

So the question is, is the tailgate/handle bezel on a normal SS smooth, or is it just painted plastic?

i believe its just painted plastic. i ordered one for 1slow01z71 and it came just painted and i had to smooth it out for him.

I dunno...SS's I have seen are smooth painted

 

mine is the same as yours, it's just paint matched.

 

I am not positive, but I think mine is smooth. I would go look but my truck is in the garage and its really cold outside. I can look when I get home from work though.

 

The one I bought from the dealership for my truck is smooth.
