Default silvy ss drivers, got some questions

im asking yall because im seriously wanting to convert my truck to AWD, and would like some input on how AWD trucks handle? how they they launch?

what gears and stall are yall running? im thinkin about 4.30s and 2800 stall, that should get my 4900lb beast moving right?

I think you will really like how it launches with the AWD,especially with a good stall.I did a 2800 for a while and it was O.K. but 3000-3200 seamed much better.the 4.30 will get it in the power faster but if you go the power adder route you will be spinning all four.I have 4.10's (stock) and I am thinking of going 3.73 or 3.42 but I want to see how it launches with the 4L80 and 4.10's first.Handling is awesome,if it starts to push on hard cornering any just give it more gas and the front end straighten's it out, when your on the gas it really holds the road, mine is also lowered 3-4" and has stiffer sway bars though.

i agree
i have a 2005 SSS AWD... i love the AWD drives great turns fine even with my 22s... stock it came with the 4.10 but im now running a 3000 stall with a built 4L65... i think u would bea happier with the 4.10 or even 3.73 unless its going to be a track only truck... ive already started buying parts for my 60-80 convertion and will make a rear gear change after the tranny if i dont like it... my truck is lowered 2-3 and it drives and handles great... i have no fear n a corner or on wet roads... but if ur converting a 2wd to a 4wd i would consider using a 4x4 tcase so u have the 2w 4w option it will save u some gas mileage and some headaches and worring when u go to the dyno.... just my opinion...

well my trucks a 4x4 already, and from what i read, even in a straight line 4x4 is a little harsh. i was thinking about AWD because i would never have to worrry about traction, and i would think it would handle alot better

from what I've heard they are pretty bulletproof,I've never seen a failure, even on some 1000+ hp trucks.

3400 here and love it! I am shooting for a certain 60' time so I hope I can nail it. If I smash the pedal to the floor, the truck just about pulls the wheels and all four spin for a second.

I have never seen a transfer case fail related to HP, they have all been random.
