Sounds like a really cold track. Were you on street tires?

i dont know much about the shifter conversion, but i dont think it will move the location forward far enough to work without modification. you might want to check on the measurements, cuz when i installed mine it didnt look like it would line up.

by the way, sounds like a nice setup, good luck with the build.

the only question that comes to mind is, what are you going to use for a boot around the shifter if you widen the hole?

I was just gona slide it back to the needed position and then add black carpet to the front where the floorboard would be showing.. heres a link to the front shift conversion im thinking about T56 Front Shift Conversion Kit | Shifters, Handles & Boots | GM Parts and Accessories | GM | Keisler Engineering, Inc | Keisler Engineering - KeislerAuto.com

looks like a nice kit. when i did my boot, i used an fbody boot and flipped it upside down and zip tied it to the top of the shifter base.

yeah. due to the shaft needing to be shorter and stronger. youll also need a different yoke at the tranny. and if you havent thought of it, you need to upgrade your gears to at least a 4.88 on a 30" tall tire.
