If you want a failsafe setup for a fun, reliable, and fast street truck, follow him ^. My man knows his **** and knows what works. Driving his truck made me want to swap my built/stalled auto out for a T-56. He's an RST O.G.

the best i've been able to do so far with just intake/headers/tune on my tired ol' 5.3/5spd is a 2.1 60' & 9.6 1/8 (no 1/4 anywhere close ) granted, that's with 31.5" tires

Zebra - I believe that a member in here had an avalanche with a t-56 with a modified tail housing and a transfer case for a 4x4 application.

1979 - have you done the drill mod on your hydraulic line from your clutch master to slave? It won't completely correct the problem, but it will help. Do a search in the rst writeup for drill mod, I linked it in there somewhere.

also change out your fluid (Ranger method works just fine for this). it made a world of difference on the top end for me.

old fluid = double-clutch 3rd above 5000rpm
new fluid = normal shifts at 5500+

...at least for my truck

yeah, i saw that a couple years ago. wasn't it basically a one-off build that ended up just being more of a problem in the end... or am i thinking of another build?

and the drill mod only works on the new style clutch line with the quick connect at the master - lucky y'all

If the quick connect is at your master, the end you need to drill at your slave. That's where mine was. I had to knock out the roll pin that held it in the slave and then did the drill mod. So if you have the old setup there is hope, but it requires you to drop the tranny to remove the slave.
