The more you look at speakers the more commonalities you'll find, especially with subs. That's why I've learned not to get too caught up in brand names. They share a lot of components and like I said speakers are about as complex as a rock. There really isn't anything that makes one magical over another, there's just subtle differences that help. The big difference in sound quality comes from install, enclosures, setup and tuning. The speaker probably plays the smallest role in it all. Look at the bose soundwave.. best speaker in the world in a shitty setup will sound like the worst speaker in the world.
That's why I push those rings so hard and a new head unit.
The new head unit will make a world of difference. Pioneer and JVC have excellent radio's in double din in that price range you're looking at. I've started leaning toward JVC though since they have a 13 band eq.

Pioneer was one of the ones I looked at along with the JVC.

I've gone over them several times. They go on the front of the speaker to take up the gap between the speaker itself and the opening in the door panel and are a critical component.
They are on all good stereo systems. They are on my current truck (factory).
I keep mentioning and posting links for fast rings, have you looked at the link? I've also mentioned making your own from window seal foam (windows for the house, so it's in the home repair section at walmart or you can get it at home depot.

Yes, I did look at the link.
I purchased some foam from the depot but it's too wide. I have to go back and get some 3/8 What I got is like 3/4 wide.
Its wasnt much money.
The stuff that came with is for Isolation.

You need 3/8 by 1/2" or 3/4" tall. If I remember correctly I used 3/8 by 3/4 and it was perfect. I did the speakers in the rear doors too and it was extremely worth it.
You may have to double stack the tape if you get some that isn't very tall.

Man I was far off. I just found my roll, I used 3/4" wide by 1/2" tall foam and it worked great for me.
1/2" fills the gap between the speaker and the door panel just right. Well it did with mine and the bose door panel setup. You said your speakers mount to the door like the bose do so yours should be the same.. I assume.

I am happy for the money spent. I was expecting to spend a little more to get decent quality sound out of the factory head unit. I realize the technology Is probally 10 years old Vs. the year of the truck being an 06 and all.
Looking to do a head unit next, But I finally got around to the sway bar debacle... Waiting on load test results as well as a sample front bar to be produced. What an ordeal thats been... Not sure if you recall, I wanted to get the Hotchkis Re made... Any way, working with a different vendor now and hoping to have as good of a product. Even if I don't sell them directly.
