So, as the title states, looking to replace the cab corners and rockers on my '03 RCSB in the near future as Canadian winters have done a number on them. I've found Keystone and Sherman to be the most abundant, so I'm looking to see what you guys have found to be the least amount of a headache to get fitting nicely. Looking to do it properly by replacing the full panel, not just a slip on bandaid, along with doing some preventative maintenance with epoxy sealer and making an access port or two to wash out any junk that gets back in there.

 

I have never had to use patch panels for these trucks So I can't comment on that.

I would recommend treating the rust inside and sealing as you mentioned. But after you paint the replacement exterior panels, go back inside with with a rust preventive coating such as cavity wax to help prevent and slow the rust in the future.

Consider yourself lucky if you really do have a stepside, the bedsides start to bubble a yr or two after the rockers bust thru it seems like. Or in my unlucky case before the rockers

 

That's partially the reason I bought a stepside. Bedsides will always look good, even after a life of salted roads. Who manufactured your sheet metal? ?Happy with the fitment?

 

How were they to install? Minimal massaging to get them to fit up decently?

 

Driverside fit very well, passenger I had to extended 1/2" (I think it was even smaller) I tried looking for photos. I'll have to dig more

 

How hard would it be to remove a panel on the stepside and replace it with a new one?

Found a easy spot to put a filler piece in. cut it, temp mounted the two pieces then added filler piece (metal) ground down welds.
