Default 04 ext 4x4

hey guys been a while since ive been on the forums. not too sure who all may or may not remember me, but this was my first truck

well several trucks later, im currently driving this, 09 avalanche 5.3 6l80 combos, but im not building that in this thread

so onto the project this thread is about, so basically a little back story is a friend of mine came to me and said i really hate the new trucks, id love to have an older one that would be basically brand new but looks old. so i told him i could do that. after finding the nearly perfect truck for him. (04 extended cab silverado) the build began last weekend

here we got the truck home to my place after driving it 50 miles one way. 5.3 4l60e manual shift 4x4 with 235k miles on the clock. picked it up for a whopping $2200

mandatory flex shots lol

and the tear down begins

tiny little trans cooler

front clip pulled

pulled the bed

starting removal of the cab, supported by jack stands and some thick *** steel to lift the cab high enough. tires removed and sitting on the rotors on those rolling car dollys

front tires on, used a come-along on a tow hook to slowly pull the frame from under the body

temporary stationary cab

in-case you've never seen a nbs frame separated from the body here it is in all its glory

and that was all for last weekends progress

engine, trans, tranfercase pulled

lots of cleaning required on the frame, still going to pull all the brake lines, and suspension to re coat the frame

transmission separated getting rebuilt for a jeep project

old oily 5.3 getting rebuilt for the same jeep.

now im on the search for a gen iv 5.3, and 4l80e to drop back into this truck

Are you going to swap reluctor wheels when you get the newer block or just run a converter box?

Seems like more money having to be spent finding a new engine than using the old one.

Should be a neat project and I'm curious of the way it goes.

question about the 80e swap, is everything the same even though this truck is a floor shift 4x4 and not the push button?
