Default Gen IV 6.0 wiring harness

Hey guys, needing help with a wiring harness. The motor I plan on swapping into my 2006 rcsb RST is a 2010 L96 6.0 that came with a e38 harness from factory (but did not come with motor when I purchased from craigslist). Im struggling to find one unmolested anywhere. My question is, will a harness from an LY6 work since the L96 replaced the LY6? Any advice is appreciated, thanks

I think the harness would work (as in plug into all the engine sensors), but you are going to need a compatible computer. The 06 computer is designed for a 24X reluctor wheel, while the 2010 engine for a 58X. In addition, you will need to figure out the knock sensor mounting since the newer block does not have provisions for them in the valley cover.

yes it would work after researching. After contacting a local dealer they can get the l96 harness for $340. My tuner says he's able to convert my ecm to work with my setup. I'll either switch motor to 24x or buy the lingenfelter box. Is that enough to have my setup work?

The 07 up e38 pcm connectors are completely different, and have an seprate tcm with 4l60 and the 6.0s typically came with 6l80s... unless you are planning on piggy backing the two pcms..... Youre better off using the stock harness and modifying it to run the gen iv engine...

The Lingenfelter box should solve the 58X to 24X problem. Just have to figure out the knock sensors.

I agree with Wolftrk99 - running a newer E38 ECM is far from ideal. I would try to make the Gen 3 computer work.

I have thought a while about sitting down with schematics and figuring out exactly how to build the harness to piggy back the stock pcm to an e38 pcm in my 99 someday... That or retro fitting an nnbs harness/interior into it, the idea of a 6l90 is really appealing..... But will probably never happen...

Sorry if what I said came off confusing. I plan on gen 3 computer, gen 4 harness and motor, and 4l80e. Tuner says he's able to convert ecu to work. Now as far as motor and trans, I don't want to tear into the motor to convert it to a 28x so will the Lingenfelter solve my problem?

Id like to know what he is doing to make the gen 3 ecm work with a gen iv harness.... Aside from repinning everything, unless i missed an nbs with a newer style ecm.... And yes the lingenfelter box will be need to convert to a 24x signal which in that case will mean you need a 4x crank reluctor....

So now knowing how two different the ecm's are.. Would it be easier to use my stock ecm, adapt my stock harness that's currently on my lm7 to work with the gen IV motor? Besides knock sensor ext. , cam sensor ext , and injector pigtail adapter, what else would be needed? Do I have to remount any sensors?
