so i ordered the BB autocal tuning system. at this point its my only option other than waiting a week to get my ecm sent off, sent back and driving back to where im doing this at. That is if they have done enough 5.3's with afm to know kind of where to set them at to get them running with the cam i ordered..

Just pull the cam gear off with the chain on it. Pull the gear out and let the chain drop. When you reassemble, put the chain on the gear before bolting it back on the cam.

He is pretty good. He had mine almost on point on his first try with the cam and supercharger.

Yep...

Unbolt the cam gear.... And wiggle it off the cam, you are going to need a heat gun or really hot hair dyer to heat the tensioner up and make it pliable so you can compress it and put a pin or small allen key in it to keep it compressed....
If you do break or crack the leaf spring you can unbolt the oil pump to replace the tensioner but you do run the risk of causing an oil pressure drop due to either shifting the pickup tube or cracking it slightly....

alright awesome, thanks guys for all your help!! Should be getting around to it next weekend, had to order some little things like the pulley puller and installer and a flywheel holder tool. hopefully they get here by next weekend. amazon prime so they should..

Now, what is your guys' opinions on painting the cylinder heads? I wanted to maybe paint my heads black, rocker covers something not as played out as red is (white?) and my not sure on my coil packs. I am painting my engine cover white with black accents, unless i find another truck intake for my year and smooth it out..

I know it probably sounds cheesy but I kinda like it.

Whats the flywheel holder for?? Oh wait your supposed to ise one to hold the crank to tighten the crank bolt, nevermind!! Lol

As far as painting it, just basically make sure not to get paint on the sealing surfaces and you should be ok.... Tedious, time consuming cleaning work though, look cool when youre done.... Speaking of cleaning get some non chlorinated brake parts cleaner and a small wire brush it will pull the head gasket material off the heads and block, its like PFM!!!

oh yes, i have about 2 cases of brake cleaner waiting for this project haha! love brake cleaner.

I was just going to get the balancer on and then just use an impact to hammer it tight but i decided otherwise haha, I plan on an ls swap in my 71 gmc c10 so i figured i might as well just get the tools now..

Typical turn around for any email is 3 or 4 days. He is pretty busy, but I have been pleased with him as he has never charged me for a retune and is happy to make any changes I ask for. I am on like my 15th retune now.

As far as putting on the balancer bolt, I used an impact, no issues with it.
