Tough E85 Cold Starts in warm weather, can someone look at my timing table?
#1
The first E85 start of the day even in 70-80 degree weather is beyond difficult. Once I get it to fire, it will start great for the rest of the day. I did not tune the truck, but my thoughts are that because I had some mechanical ignition issues at the dyno that I've since resolved, that timing is excessive during cranking. I do not have a crank sensor position code, so I don't think it is the CPS...

good luck man. I've had starting issue (long cranking time) with e85 for years. I've been unable to fix it via the tune. My conclusion: e85 and 7 range plugs don't fire off like straight gas

I've had E85 cars before so I understand the realities... but these are beyond long cranking times. We're talking about 3-4 mins of short cranking sessions (with letting the battery recover in between), do that 6-7 times, get a cough, then hold the throttle open like a carb'd motor, then finally fires and idles perfect right away. All in all it's a 5-6 min process.

My exhaust is aluminum
My cranking VE is 100%
My open loop fuel target goes from 1.40 to 1.0 by 155*
My timing isnt crazy...22* during warm up...18.5-19 during operating temp
Idle target...1100 to 975 based on temp
Log afr vs kpa during cranking...change ve to help during this
My truck is open loop as no 02s but with narroebands is easier
Enable 02s at 105* based on ect value
My idle is high cause of cam size and cubes...then sound
