Yes, a 2005 VHO. I converted the drum brakes to the disk set up on the 10 bolt.

Did you personally do the swap??? Was wondering if you might enlighten us on how easy or hard that part may have been. I haven't seen one yet in person but was thinking about the same swap. I may use an earlyier housing so I will have to redo everything... But I look at the offset in cost to justify the work.

I just went outside and looked. I think you have a 10bolt there. They should be able to just look at the cover for you and count the cover bolts.

My friend (a mechanic) and I did it. It was not hard. I would look for the newer style rear end. It is essentially a bolt in swap. The only part I had to buy was the conversion u-joint. The brakes bolted right up (they sit at a slight angle) and so did the emergency cables.

FYI - I paid $650 plus shpping for the rear end. It ended up costing about $850 to my door.

Sorry for the hi-jack Colby.

No apology required...this thread is about the 10-bolt to 9.5" 14-bolt swap and all pertinent info is invited!

The rearend left the salvage yard in OK City yesterday...so no way to take pics. But he guaranteed the rearend matched the VIN, and the dealership confirmed the 9.5" to the VIN. I'll get the VIN and double check that as well.

So, I'm figuring I've got a 9.5" en route. If not, shame on me for not asking for a "cover shot"...but lets think positive!!

Default Adaptor U-Joint

Contacted Randy's R&P for a new "adaptor" u-joint. The correct unit for a 10-bolt to 14-bolt conversion is a 1350-Mechanics 3R u-joint. Cost was about $40.

I hope it was not G And R out of OK city?Had several phone calls with them and when i requested pics they sent me those pic's,i responded that those where a 10 bolt and needed vin, recieved vin and it described a 14 bolt but pic's did not confirm, requested he look thru lot for possible mis tagged rear, and they never returned with any new info, other than vin and rear match up,asked for more photos and they never responded any further......
