Default Wheel Problems!!!

OK, so I have had my Stingray III's on order for 8 weeks now. They are the Ultra Lite Series...and when I ordered them they told me they looked exactly like the regular Stingray III. But, after looking on the website today, they have a new picture up of what the ultra lite version looks like.

I am very frustrated because I feel like I was misled. They told me they had to do a slightly different design because they are a different forging. This just sucks. I hope they don't look that bad in person.

Has anyone gotten their Ultra Lite Versions of this wheel yet?

I'm thinking maybe the picture they have posted might be like an 18" wheel and I know the spokes for the 18's are thicker or wider looking...I hope that is the case.

I hope you are right about the 18" wheels, because those definitely don't look as nice as the old ones.

Kinda what I thought. I called them and they are going to measure the width of th spokes to see how wide they are compared to the others. I know the area around the lugnuts is definately different and centercap, but they told me the spokes should be the same. I hope so...may have to trade for some Archer II's.

Based on the pic I would say those are 18s. The lip is different too.

I think you're right...I'm prolly just freakin for no reason. I knew in the original series that the 18's had thicker spokes than the 20's and I am hoping that is the case here. I will know for sure this afternoon as they are going to measure the spokes. This whole ordeal has been a nightmare...

I will be going on 10 weeks waiting for my Ultra series Stingray's as of this weekend. I beleive that that is what they are going to look like even in 20" sizes. They looked like the regular Stingrays when i ordered them as well, but I was told that they redesigned them. They said that they occasionally pull a wheel out of manufacturing and test them and came across some " suspect material ", which probably means that they had some failures in testing. Probably found that they couldn't shave the weight of a Stingray III down from an already impressively light 28lbs to 19lbs safely, which is why they weight 25lbs now. I don't mind the redesigned wheel but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. Would have been nice if they had notified the customers that the wheel they ordered has been redesigned instead of surprising them with it.

That's what I am saying...they should have notified us. Sucky deal. I will let you know what they say about the spokes when I have them measure them. 02BlueStepside...would mind measuring the width of your's (the spokes) so we can see if they are telling us right?

Well, they told me the spokes are thicker, but didn't give me measurements. I guess I will see how they look and I might trade them for Archers...unless someone has some Stingrays they wanna sell.

That's still a good looking wheel IMO...
