What did you paint your bow tie with?
#2
on my 89 i had a 98 grille in it and i took the bowtie out and sanded it with 320 and then painted it with dupont paint. my family owns a body shop though. you could use some good spray paint to do it and clear it. just do a good prep job and take your time

Hey man,
I just got done painting my 99 bowtie charcoal grey to match my truck and heres what i did (varies a little with the condition of the bowtie though)
1. I went and bought some Duplicolor filler primer to fill the spots where the rocks hit the bowtie and whatnot. I put 3 coats on it and then sanded with 1200 grit.
2. I then went and applied 2 coats of final primer from duplicolor in a matte black finish. and again sanded with 1200 grit. Only reason for 2 coats was i didn't want any grey primer to show through if something happened.
3. I put 3 coats of dupli-color charcoal grey on it and let it dry.
4. I then applied 4 coats of automotive grade clear coat and then wet sanded with 1200 to 2000grit to make sure the surface was abosultely smooth.
5. I then put 4 coats of Meguiars NXT wax on it and now its as smooth as glass.
I can take pics of the finished product if you'd like me too. Just let me know,
Dave
