Guys, do I wetsand after the last base coat and before the clear or do I leave the last base coat and put the clear on, wet sanding after 2 coats of that before I put the final coat on?

when i painted my truck i wetsanded after i clear it ,but if you have any dirt in the base you should wet sand the spot that has dirt. if no dirts in the paint wetsand it when it all done
ok, so if my base is clean (should be, I just put it down! - engine cover for reference) no need to wetsand before the clear, and then on the clear I wait till I have all the coats on(I was thinking three) and then wetsand after it cures for a day (1500-wet enough?), and then polish that out?

I would use unigrit sandpaper to make it easier to polish the sanding marks out.

alot of times you want to let it cure for a few days before wetsanding, i waited atleast 2 weeks before wetsanding my truck even tho it was baked after painting. if you have a screw up in the base coat you can take some 800 or something higher and dry sand it and spray more base coat over it, i would wet sand with 1500 or higher and use a good rubbing compound then finish it with a finishing/polishing compound
If my last clear is good do i even need to wetsand, or is it just a general rule that it will get even better after a 1500 wetsand and polish?

you dont have to, but it will get all of the orange peel out or any dry spray haze or other inperfection out, i also think it looks better when you dont wetsand, unless you like to buff alot, then it will shine just like it was just painted.

all i do with mine is take some 1000 and just rub over the whole piece im painting dry. dont press hard or anything all your doing is taking the head off the trash basically then spray another light coat of color down then clear. always worked for me
