Default wanting to paint front grill; input and suggestions

Well after reading the mirror thread, im wanting to paint my mirrors and front grill on my 04silverado. I guess you would call my grill, the "work truck" grill because its not body colormatched. I cant decide if i want to paint the grill and the chrome strip or just the grill. Also whats the best way about doing that? same way as the mirror thread? any input appreciated

is your front grill/mirrors a smooth finish??? if so then it will be easy to paint but if its the rough plastic material then it needs to be sanded a lot more before paint.

+1 the main thing is getting it smooth before the paint goes on.

Post up a pic of your truck so we can see the front.. .

Its the rough finish. I knew it would take alot of sanding and prep i just want a good overall finished product. You guys think i should leave the chrome strip chrome or paint it white also? My mirrors dont have caps but was thinking of just painting the mirror part and leaving the base black.

Yeah just sand smooth and use an adhesion promoter and filler primer. My vote is to paint the whole grill white but in the end it's your call.

My vote is for you to paint the entire grill and bowtie! Im in the process of doing that myself, imo if you want paint on your side mirrors just buy some new ones and put the old ones on ebay. I dont mind the black side mirrors/door handles i just want the dam front end color matched! While your at it have you thought about painting your bumper too? Just those few things will dramatically change the truck!

If you don't have mirror caps and you are not getting new ones, I would say paint all or nothing. If that's the way you want to go, here is a link on gmfullsize that shows how to get them apart

http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36860

As far as the grill goes, I would match the bumper cover?? if that's what it's called. The thing on top of the front bumper. . . . as well as the rest of the grill but leave the chromes strip. I would like to have an 06 07 grille but I do like the chrome strip a little bit on mine. Im not going to paint my cover but here is a pic of my factory grille. Either way you do it good luck and keep us posted!
